Eastern Plains Chamber of Commerce

By Larry Sparks

The Eastern Plains Chamber of Commerce held its monthly meeting Nov. 1. The morning began with a networking breakfast for members and guests. The breakfast sponsor was Erik “the Blade Sharpener” Newsholme. His presentation was both humorous and informative. His theme “The Chosen One,” was about the responsibilities of carving the Thanksgiving turkey and the anxiety of the carver. Erik, as “the Blade Sharpener,” can assuage any concerns you have over the readiness of your cutlery, scissors, shovels or lawnmower blades.

The main speaker for the morning was District 2 Commissioner Carrie Geitner. Commissioner Geitner, a long-time friend of this chamber, gave an informative presentation on her mission, philosophy and role as an El Paso County Commissioner. She spent a large portion of her time discussing the priorities of the county commissioners, which included maintaining a low-tax environment while managing a low-cost, efficient government.

The Eastern Plains Chamber of Commerce meets the first Wednesday of every month at Grace Community Church. The board works diligently to ensure that educational presentations are scheduled that will serve the interests of our community.
