In 1890, subscriptions to ìThe Falcon Heraldî could be purchased for a whopping $1.50 a year. The paper was published every Wednesday, with individual copies available for 5 cents. While only 200 people lived in Falcon, the townís location at the junction of The Rock Island Railroad and the Denver, Texas, and Fort Worth Railroad brought in a lot of visitors. Advertisements in the paper show the newly established town had six saloons, two lumber yards, a blacksmith shop, a drug store, two general stores, restaurants, a meat market and two hotels ó The Falcon Hotel and Hotel Edna.Source: Falcon History, by Louise Solberg, published in ìEl Paso County Heritage,î 1985.
