New fire station breaking ground this summerHammers Construction has announced that it will break ground late this summer on the new Falcon fire station on Woodmen Road.Marketing Director Joe Grossi said they have entered into the project, in cooperation with Cygnet Land, as part of the planned business development – Rolling Thunder Business Park.”We have built the Falcon Town Center and also Meineke Muffler in Falcon,” Grossi said.” We anticipate receiving our plat approval from the county at the end of July or mid-August … breaking ground for the construction process immediately after plat approval.”Hammers is a 50-year-old family business. Other projects include Claremont Business Park on Highway 24, Wolf Business Park in Monument and Blackwood Business Park at Woodmen and Black Forest roads. Possible motel for FalconKarst Bergsma is thinking of building a motel on the property that houses Prairie Jewel and Jill’s Country CafÈ.Bergsma said the project will take “at least 16 months.” He said part of the process involves rezoning the property, and he has not taken the project to the regional planning commission.Bergsma would not name a specific motel chain he was considering, but said that he is “currently talking to several parties.””As the process continues, the parameters will be more defined,” he added. Bergsma said the area, if approved, would be called Falcon Station. He said he also is talking to at least six other companies that could occupy the other corner of the property. No contracts have been signed.
