Dr. Jamin Houser and Dr. Jared Waite are trying to change the idea that a trip to the dentist is as dreadful as death and taxes.A trip to Falcon Dental Care means comfortable chairs, overhead TVs and headphones to listen to soothing tunes. “Our practice is designed for our patients’ comfort,” Waite said. From the friendly office staff to the big, overstuffed leather couch in the waiting area, relaxation replaces anxiety.Houser, a Colorado native, grew up in Franktown. After a five-year stint in the U.S. Navy, he researched careers in health care but his brother, a dentist, led him to pursue the same.Houser graduated from the University of Colorado Health Science Center and opened a practice five years ago in Castle Rock, where he lives with his wife of 16 years, Stacie, and their six children.Three years ago, one of Houser’s dental suppliers told him about the fast-growing area of Falcon. Houser drove down for a visit and decided it would be a great place to open a second practice. He sought a full-time partner so he could work one day a week in Falcon and maintain his practice in Castle Rock.Waite’s brother is a friend of Houser’s, and after an introduction and another look at Falcon, Waite and Houser became partners, opening Falcon Dental Care in June 2004 at the east end of the Falcon Safeway Town Center.Waite lives on the north end of Colorado Springs with his wife, Kirstin, and two children and a third on the way. His father works for General Motors, and Waite said he moved quite a bit as a child but considers Utah his home base. He attended high school in Utah and then graduated from Brigham Young University.Waite’s career choice was influenced by a Utah dentist. “He was a fabulous general dentist,” Waite said. “He was a great people person, and I admired him.” After graduating from Baylor University Dental School in Dallas and agreeing to a partnership with Houser, Waite and his family relocated to Colorado Springs. “Our motto is to give our patients the best dental care we possibly can,” he said. “Our patients come from Falcon, Peyton, Calhan and even further out on the plains and are so appreciative that we are here.”Houser and Waite want to keep their practice small and personal. “Our patients are the best I ever worked with,” Waite said. “We know people by name and do not want to lose that.” While Houser is at the office on Wednesday’s only, he, too, notices a difference in the overall atmosphere on the eastern plains. “This really gives me a break from the other office, and the demographics are so different,” Houser said. “I really enjoy coming out here. It also is perfect to our philosophy of personal care.”From root canals to cosmetic dentistry, Houser and Waite can usually do the job. “We occasionally refer patients to specialists when we feel a problem is outside of our expertise,” Waite said. However, their expertise encompasses most procedures. Waite and Houser are trained in general dentistry and also cosmetic (including dental implants) and dentures.Falcon Dental Care accepts most insurance and all ages.Dr. Wade Housewright, an orthodontist, also rents space from Houser and Waite and completes the total dental care package offered.
