D 49 name change

I voted on the current survey, along with many other community members against changing the name of (Falcon) D 49. I also tried to vote under the “stars” tab; I clearly clicked on the 1 star to show my dissatisfaction, and to my surprise it showed I clicked on 3 stars. I tried again and again, and it clicked on the 3 stars. Now, I’m not a lame†duck,†and since I’m so against this change I would NEVER have voted for a 3 star rating! This seems extremely dishonest and shady. I know a few others who said the same thing. This shows a serious lack of transparency on the topic. There is also a comments section on this (under the stars) where you canít leave comments. If this was an error in your system, I ask that you please check into that. If this is accurate, I hope you all rethink how this is being presented to the D 49 community/voters/stakeholders. Frankly, our district as a whole, along with†board members and†administrators, have been working hard at gaining the trust back from the community/voters/taxpayers. I canít for the life of me understand why we are now taking a step backward to lose that trust again.†As for changing the name of our district, I don’t believe it wonít cost money. There are decals, buses, filings, signage, etc. that will cost money. It’s interesting that once 3B passed, our district wants to “rebrand” ourselves ó just when people started to think we were moving forward from mismanagement and chaos, here we go again. Do you think “rebranding” or “renaming”†Falcon D 49 will make us a different district? It wonít in all honesty. Interestingly enough, if Falcon D 49 is the district of choice in the Pikes Peak region, why would we want to take that wonderful and amazing†identity away? This really doesn’t make any sense.†Falcon†D 49, along with its stakeholders, should be proud of all the opportunities offered to our students ó being a top district for choice sets us aside, and leading the way for our future with top technology is what makes Falcon D 49 the best place.I’m asking that you reconsider this resolution. There doesn’t seem to be a need for it, and it seems you are again not considering voter/community input.- Corey Ohlrich†Falcon D 49 graduate, D 49 parent, PTA member, advocate for previous bonds, BRES planning committee
