Registration is open for incoming Falcon School District 49 preschoolers ready for kindergarten in August. Edward Kulbacki, Falcon Elementary School of Technology principal, said families should register as soon as possible at http://www.d49.org in order to be scheduled for assessments for classroom placement taking place in May.
FEST will hold classroom placement assessments May 13, by appointment, between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Kindergarten teachers will assess students one-on-one in order to understand what letter, number and shape concepts, etc. they know. “This helps us balance classrooms for the upcoming school year,” Kulbacki said.
There will be a parent orientation and information morning May 15, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. At that time, teachers will work with students to evaluate their social skills, level of engagement and ability to follow directions. For parents unable to attend the May orientation, Kulbacki said a similar program will be held July 29.
