Esther Kauffman will retire from Falcon School District 49 after 29 years of service with the district. Kauffman began working as a bus driver in 1980. She drove a bus for five and a half years and then was promoted to secretary/dispatcher in the transportation department where she worked for six and a half years. Kauffman then transferred to the central office reception desk and stayed for one year. When an opening for a school secretary became available at Falcon Middle School, she moved to that job where she remained for nine and a half years; much to the joy of the students, staff and parents. In 2002, Kauffman moved back to the central office as the receptionist.Kauffman and her husband Vern look forward to traveling and pursuing their interest in becoming campground hosts. She plans to spend time quilting and camping and visiting with her children and grandchildren.Kauffman’s retirement open house will be held at the D 49 central office board room, 10850 E. Woodmen Road, Falcon, on Tuesday, May 26, from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. No gifts please, per Kauffman’s request.
