After months of debate over the finalization of the chief education officer job description, the Falcon School District 49 Board of Education has interviewed five candidates and selected two finalists.Mary Vedra currently serves as the quality education auditor at Emirates National Schools in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. She manages, monitors and evaluates accreditation and authorization of the pre-K-12 programs at each campus. Verdaís 26 years of education leadership experience also include serving as principal and assistant superintendent within the Arapahoe County School District in Littleton, Colo., as well as the executive director of learning services for Arapahoe County.Peter Hilts is the director of academic services at The Classical Academy in Colorado Springs. He coordinates the efforts of the instructional leaders and the school. Hilts was the founding director of College Pathways, an award-winning blended school. His education leadership experience includes roles as a high school principal and director of instructional technology.The BOE has selected the May 9 board meeting as the potential venue for announcing their final choice for CEO.
