Curves annual food drive

During the entire month of March, Falcon Curves is sponsoring its annual food drive to benefit Helping Hands Food Pantry of Falcon. Last year, the national Curves food drive brought in 11 million pounds of food for communities worldwide.To celebrate the generosity of the community, Curves is waiving its usual service fee for any new member who joins the exercise club between March 1 and March 10 and brings in a bag of non-perishable groceries. Others may drop off donations of the non-perishable items at Curves Monday through Saturday during business hours throughout the month of March.”The Curves Food Drive promotion is always exciting,” said Kathy Kelley, owner of the Falcon club. “We have a chance to help so many people at a time when the food banks are lowest, while we assist more women in reaching their fitness and weight loss goals. It’s a win-win situation for everyone, and we’re very proud to participate.”Curves book signing helps food pantry as wellOn Saturday, March 3 and Saturday, March 10, from 10 a.m. to noon, local author Lonzie Symonette will be on hand to sign copies of her new book, ìEveryday Soaring Since my Emancipation; Reflections on Inspirational Living.î According to a news release, Symonetteís book is a ìdevotional of Biblical truths and manifold experiential graces joined in a kaleidoscope of inspirational stories.î A portion of the book proceeds will be donated to the Helping Hands Food Pantry of Falcon.Falcon Curves is located at 7663 McLaughin Road in the Safeway Shopping Center.
