El Paso County is moving forward to connect Hodgen Road to Baptist Road.Recently the El Paso County Board of County Commissioners approved three construction easements from Robert and Carmen Carubia, Richard and Julie Jadomski, and Chernak Enterprises, LLC, which will speed the construction of Hodgen Road west to Baptist Road.Currently Baptist Road ends at Roller Coaster Road, but El Paso County will link it to Hodgen Road, just east of state Highway 83. This 1.2-mile extension will create a continuous two lane east/west route to allow Hodgen traffic to continue west onto Baptist Road in order to access I-25.The work includes rehabilitation and grade adjustment of Hodgen Road west of Highway 83. Some closures and detours in this area should be expected.Construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2006, after the right-of-way for the project is required. The project is expected to last about nine months. So far the county has about half of the parcels it needs for the project, but it estimates that the rest will be obtained in three to six months. The voter-approved Pikes Peak Rural Transit Authority is funding the road construction.
