County Commissioner files for re-election

Amy Lathen, El Paso County Board of County Commissioners, has begun planning for her bid to seek re-election to a second term. She filed paperwork with the Colorado Secretary of State’s office on April 12, confirming her candidacy. Lathen has completed more than three years of service as the representative for District 2 on the BOCC and is now serving as chairwoman of the board. Lathen said, “It may seem a bit early to be thinking about 2012 elections, but with a real possibility that caucuses are less than a year away, I and my team believe it is time to reorganize and prepare for the election ahead.”I truly love my job and the interaction that I am privileged to have with constituents nearly every day. I have worked very hard to be responsive, accessible and transparent and to show that integrity and service still matter to some who serve in public office. While focusing strongly on roads and core county services, I have sought to improve policy and reduce the negative impacts of county government on the lives of El Paso County citizens. It seems that I have really only just begun and with no intention to slow down, I will be asking my constituents to hire me again in 2012.”Commissioner Lathen is planning an announcement tour throughout her district this summer.
