According to the article in the December issue of The New Falcon Heraldabout the Upper Black Squirrel Creek Ground Water Management District’spossible Feb. 7 election, mail-in ballots would not be available. That statement is incorrect. Mail-in ballots are available, and voters can receive a ballot by sending a letter to the district’s office at 520 Colorado Ave., Suite C, Calhan, CO 80808.Be sure to send requests to receive the mail-in ballot by February. The district’s phone number is 719-347-0704.The district’s secretary, Tracy Doran, said a review of the rules concerning the number of signatures required to apply as a candidate for the district’s board has changed. Applicants only need to get signatures of 26 taxpaying electors in their respective districts, not the 60 signatures that were originally required. As The New Falcon Herald went to press, Doran did not know if the election would actually be held because the deadline for potential candidates to apply is Jan. 9.
