King Soopers arrives
On Jan. 24, the long wait for the new King Soopers Marketplace ended. The 124,000-square-foot King Soopers at 7530 Falcon Market Place near Meridian and East Woodmen roads opened at 8:30 a.m. and celebrated with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 9. The event also included a donation to the USO and gift card giveaways. The crowd was huge, perhaps record breaking. The store is huge, too, with not only groceries but also appliances and clothes — a one-stop shopping experience.

King Soopers outside: “Build it and they will come” was the phrase of the day when King Soopers held its grand opening in Falcon on Jan. 24. The parking lot and store were packed with residents anxious to check out the town’s new one-stop shopping option.
King Soopers’ staff members and Carrie Geitner, El Paso County commissioner, were on hand to welcome area residents to the newest commercial venture in Falcon.
