Colorado Springs Children’s Chorale holiday performances

The Colorado Springs Children’s Chorale’s holiday concert ‘Tis the Season’ will be presented at the Pikes Peak Center on Dec. 4 at 3 p.m. All five of the chorale’s choirs (encompassing almost 200 young voices) will participate in this very professional stage show.The young choir will delight the audience with a 90-minute concert featuring classical holiday favorites and selections from recent screen and stage productions, including “Polar Express,” “A Charlie Brown Christmas” and “The Grinch.”Under the direction of Kevin McChesney, the Pikes Peak Ringers, a handbell choir, will join the Children’s Chorale in concert.The Children’s Chorale in coordination with the Care and Share holiday food drive is encouraging attendees to bring non-perishable food items to the concert on Dec. 4. Tickets are $11 to $16 and available at the Pikes Peak Center box office, 520-SHOW.The chorale’s high-school “Summit Ensemble” will once again present a holiday concert “Summit by Candlelight” on Dec. 17 at 7:30 p.m. at the Broadmoor Community Church at 315 Lake Ave.During the summer of 2005, the Summit Ensemble toured through England, Scotland and Wales, where they were invited to participate in the prestigious Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod, an honor bestowed on only two American choirs this year. Tickets for this concert are $8 and available at the Children’s Chorale office by calling 633-3562 or visiting 3022 N. El Paso St. Tickets also are available at the door the evening of the performance.The international award-winning Colorado Springs Children’s Chorale is celebrating their 29th season. They will be participating with Theatreworks in their productions of “A Christmas Carol,” as well this season and appearing in the Broadmoor’s holiday show.
