Changes in the chamber

Easter Plains Chamber of Commerce president Terri Hobbs said she is excited about 2010. The chamber has made several changes, including the appointment of two new board officers, Ron Craig, as chairman of the board, and Connie Johnson, as vice president. Hobbs said the new officers were appointed to fill resignations. Elections for chairman of the board, treasurer and vice president will be held in 2010, Hobbs said.”The chamber is important to help businesses grow in the area,” she said. They also give back to the community. Money raised by EPCC fundraisers is donated to charities in the community. For the holidays, they donated turkeys to Grace Community Church and the High Plains Helping Hands Food Pantry, Hobbs said.The chamber is holding their annual Christmas dinner at Grace Community Church Dec. 12 at 6 p.m. Admission is a white elephant gift, and RSVPs are due no later than Dec. 6.Hobbs said the chamber will continue holding its monthly business meeting the first Wednesday of each month at 7 a.m. The chamber also hosts an evening networking event on the second Tuesday of the month from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Both meetings are held at Grace Community Church.Hobbs said she looks forward to growing the EPCC to benefit the businesses in the community.For more information about the EPCC or upcoming events, visit www.easternchamber.org.
