The Falcon Fire Protection District has seen a number of changes in recent months. Some are visible, like the new fire station and the new engine that will arrive in June. And not as visible are organizational changes, but they are equally important to daily operations.Over the years, the department has used a variety of rank structures, making modifications as necessary to meet operational needs. The most recent changes went into effect in May with the creation of three new captain positions. Each captain was previously a lieutenant with the department. They are assigned to each staffed station, with one on each of the three work shifts.Three firefighters were promoted to the rank of lieutenant, filling the vacancies created by the captain promotions.Six firefighters were promoted to driver operator. Although many Falcon firefighters hold driver certifications, this is the first time the department has utilized the official rank of driver operator. One firefighter was sworn in following completion of all training and certification requirements. Two part-time firefighters were hired as full-time firefighters.Four reserve firefighters were hired as part-time firefighters. Two firefighters from outside the department were also hired to fill part-time positions. The promotion and hiring processes required many hours of preparation and hard work.
