Chamber will host a series of seminars

The Eastern Plains Chamber of Commerce is holding a university, which is a series of seminars, at the Pikes Peak Community College Falcon branch this month. The seminar series is aimed at small business owners in the Falcon area, with a goal to provide information that business owners can utilize, said EPCC member Ann McNeill.McNeill also is a member of the Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce and the CSCC Small Business Advisory Council. She helped form the university at the CSCC, and has had a successful two-year run with it. McNeill and CSCC chamber member Jerry Fritz decided to try the university in Falcon. Fritz is the dean of economics and work force development division at PPCC. “I want to see our community grow and prosper,” he said. Many small business owners don’t have the resources to attend seminars that could benefit them, he added.This month’s seminar topic is “Friend Me, Follow Me, Find Me – the Business Benefits of Social Media,” with speaker Laura Benjamin, one of Meeting Professionals International platinum speakers and a veteran of the United States Air Force.The seminar is scheduled for Oct. 27, from 7:30 to 9 a.m. in room 127 at PPCC. Before the hour-long seminar, there will be a 15-minute networking opportunity. The cost is $5 for EPCC members and $10 for nonmembers.The university will be held quarterly at first to assess attendance. Visit www.easternplainschamber.com for more information.
