The Eastern Plains Chamber of Commerce did not have their monthly meeting in July so members could spend time with their families. We will resume our normal meeting schedule Aug. 2 at 7 a.m. at Grace Community Church.The Eastern Plains Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors would like to hear from local community members and business owners who have concerns or questions. If there is something going on in the community that you think we should know about, please feel free to email us or come to a meeting and share the information. We can only carry out our mission if we are part of the community we serve.The chamber is committed to promoting the services of its members and supporting local community projects. We are committed to the professional development of our members through continuing education classes, lectures and presentations. We are also committed to responsible community development and growth.Upcoming speakers:Aug. 2 ñ The featured speaker will be a representative from Shield616, which is a local nonprofit focused on providing local law enforcement officers with the needed equipment to protect themselves from the increasing threats against them. The organization also helps to break down the barriers between law enforcement and the community they serve.Sept. 6 ñ Matt Barrett will be the featured speaker, and he will discuss Peak Partners Leadership Academy and their partnership with Falcon School District 49.Oct. 4 ñ The chamber will be having another after hours event at the new UC Health facility in the Walmart Shopping Center. This will give our members and their guests a chance to see the new facility and see what UC Health has to offer in our community.Nov. 1 ñ Mike Donahue will discuss his program, Value Up, which is focused on the rising issue of teen suicide.If you or your organization would be interested in speaking at one of the chamber meetings, please contact the board at board@easternplainschamber.com.The Eastern Plains Chamber of Commerce meets the first Wednesday of each month, from 7 to 8:30 a.m. at Grace Community Church, 9475 Grace Church View in Falcon.
