Despite less than ideal weather, the Eastern Plains Chamber of Commerce held its monthly meeting April 5 at Grace Community Church. The meeting kicked off with brief introductions from all those in attendance; and, as the breakfast sponsor, Suzanne Craig spoke about LegalShield.LegalShield offers legal advice and support from experienced attorneys, along with a variety of other benefits. Suzanne will provide a seminar on wills May 6 in Colorado Springs. The cost is $12, which covers breakfast and all materials. She has a masterís degree in journalism and more than 20 years experience in crisis communication. CiSMB is a nonprofit organization, geared toward the small business market and cybercrime.Bonnie provided simple steps to improve cybersecurity and make it more difficult for criminals to access information. She provided tips to improve cybersecurity, along with ideas for training staff that have access to information. Bonnie encouraged everyone to have a plan to respond to a cybersecurity incident, adding that it was more likely a matter of when, not if. Having a plan will help mitigate some of the negative results of an attack.Bonnie works closely with the Pikes Peak Small Business Development Center, which offers workshops to assist small business with a variety of topics, including cybersecurity.
