The Eastern Plains Chamber of Commerce held its monthly meeting March 1 at Grace Community Church.The breakfast sponsor was Jim Ozburn of the Falcon Food Store and the Falcon Meadow RV Campground. Jim provided an interesting historical background on the Falcon Area, including his campground and the evolution of his gas station and food store. Jim has been in the Falcon Area since the 1950s, when the campground opened. He has seen the area grow and develop into what it is today.Terry Zarsky of the Pikes Peak Library District was the featured speaker for the meeting. She provided a wealth of information about the resources the library district offers, all free with a library card. Zarsky shared information about a variety of business databases available to help small businesses grow and market their business. In addition to the business databases, there are more than 100 databases on a variety of topics, including learning languages or professional education for those who need continuing education courses for their careers.Zarsky talked about the various resources available at the different branches, including meeting rooms and study rooms that can be reserved for free. She also talked about the Library ó 21C, located at Chapel Hills Drive in Colorado Springs. Among the many offerings of this branch include recording studios, 3-D printing, sewing machines, vinyl cutters and much more. Another great benefit is that there is always someone to instruct visitors on the equipment available.Zarsky shared that the resources are different at each library branch, but a quick phone call to 719-389-8968 will direct someone to the correct location. She also reminded people that their library card must be renewed every three years.Upcoming speakers:April 5 ñ Suzanne Craig from LegalShield†is the breakfast sponsor and her presentation will be on an upcoming will seminar her company is presenting.The guest speaker is Bonnie Moss, chief operating officer with CiSMB. She will be presenting on the importance of cyber security.May 3 ñ Featured speaker: Kelly Ikenberry, a local business coach, will provide useful information on the benefits of using a business coach to grow a business.The Eastern Plains Chamber of Commerce meets the first Wednesday of each month, from 7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. at Grace Community Church, 9475 Grace Church View in Falcon.
