Celebrating 131 years

By Coben Scott

On Sept. 20, The State Bank celebrated 131 years in the banking business. The bank’s vice president and president grilled up some hamburgers and hot dogs.

“It’s a celebration of our customers, so we’re gonna give back today,” said Brandon Gates, The State Bank vice president.

The festivities included raffles and a small party wheel that people could spin for prizes like a piggy bank. The bank also provided shaded hay bales for seating and eating.

Inside, there were an abundance of sweets. Also, all who came to the event could enter four different raffles, which included a gift basket from Smith’s Farms, a gift card to La Mission, a gift certificate to Mikey’s Total Car Care and a gift certificate to Academy Riding Stable.

Patricia Kreps, bank owner, joined the crowd and enjoyed a burger, too. One local said, “It smells like summer.”

One could spin the wheel for a prize, grab a cookie and enter a raffle at the 131st celebration of The State Farm.
