Carl’s Junior to host fundraiser

To raise money for a larger facility, High Plains Helping Hands will hold a fundraising event April 14 at Falcon’s Carl’s Junior during the restaurant’s community night program. Ten percent of the total bill for dine-in customers will go to HPHH.Founded in 2006, HPHH received its 501(c)3 status in 2008, and today the organization is rapidly outgrowing its building at 14755 East Highway 24 in the Falcon Storage facility. HPHH helps about 200 families per month, said volunteer and board member Mary Leach. “We’re trying to maintain the help that we’re able to give people now,” Leach said. “We’re looking into and hoping to make this (the event) happen every month.” Leach said several businesses have been contacted in the area about hosting future events.Carl’s Junior director of marketing Jay Hafemeister said events like this are common throughout the various other restaurant locations, but the HPHH event will be the first for Carl’s Junior in Falcon. “We want to be a part of the community out there in Peyton, Falcon and the eastern plains,” Hafemeister said. “When someone reaches out to us, we want to do whatever we can to fulfill their needs.”The event will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. at Carl’s Junior restaurant at 11655 Meridian Market View in the Wal-Mart complex.
