Brenna Harfert and Ryan Borchardt were awarded the March and January student of the month award by Lion Bob Selle at the March 4 meeting of the Calhan Lions Club. Brenna is a junior at Peyton High School and the daughter of Lori and Terry Harfert. Ryan, who is planning to pursue a degree in engineering after graduation, is a senior at Calhan High School and the son of Ruth and Steven Smith.The Calhan Lions Club Fuzzy Fun Project headed by Jodi Doyle is one that benefits specifically the Colorado Lions Camp for special needs children. The several stuffed animals collected and then donated to the Colorado Lions Camp are given to the children as prizes and gifts during their summer camp experience.To help defray the cost of the Fuzzy Fun Project, Doyle is asking for donations to reach the goal of 100 stuffed animals for summer camp children. “I feel good that I can do something good for kids that makes them happy and makes their camp experience enjoyable,” said Jodi.
