The Small Business Development Center will hold the following seminars in October:
- “Funding Your Business,” Thursday, Oct. 8, from 1 to 3 p.m. The cost is $15. This seminar is designed for businesses looking for money to start or expand their business. Taught by a local banker, topics covered include business loans over $100K, micro loans and SBA loans, what lenders look at, preparing your loan package, and how to negotiate a loan are covered.
- “Planning a Winning Web site,” Wednesday, Oct. 14, from 1 to 5:30 p.m. The seminar is free compliments of Ent Federal Credit Union. Learn about having/maintaining an effective Web site; Web hosting; hiring a Web developer; E-commerce; components of a great Web site; 10 steps to better search engine ranking; setting up credit card processing; and how to market your Web site both on and off line. This seminar will be held at Ent, 7350 Campus Dr.
- “Basics of Bookkeeping,” Thursday, Oct. 15, from 9 a.m. to noon. The cost is $40. This workshop is designed for the entrepreneur with no experience in business accounting and is taught by a CPA. The workshop will cover functions of record keeping; cash versus accrual systems; recording transactions; revenue, expenses, and depreciations; and accounts payable and receivable.
- “QuickBooks Pro Intro,” Thursday, Oct. 29, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is $75. Our hands-on training addresses how to manage money (sales, invoicing, paying bills & tracking expenses), reconcile accounts, and use reports to understand your business (profitability and sales trends).
