The Small Business Development Center will hold the following seminars in September:
- “Human Resource Update,” Wednesday, Sept. 16, from 1 to 4 p.m. The seminar is free, compliments of Ent Federal Credit Union and will be held at Ent, 7350 Campus Dr., Colorado Springs. Despite tough economic times and record levels of unemployment, employee retention and engagement plagues many organizations that strive to provide excellence in service, profits, morale and job satisfaction. You’ll learn numerous ways to engage and retain top talent and enhance frontline leadership development at the very same time! You’ll learn how to navigate through the various online methods of finding employees and learn how to present your company in a positive way in order to recruit top employees.
- “Understanding Financial Statements to Manage Your Business,” Thursday. Sept. 17, from 9 a.m. to noon. The cost is $40. This session will cover balance sheets, income statements, statement of cash flow, financial projections, and budget. (Basics of Bookkeeping is recommended as a prerequisite only if you’ve no prior experience in bookkeeping).
- “Common Legal Issues When Starting a Small Business,” Friday, Sept. 18, from 1 to 3 p.m. The cost is $15. This workshop will cover common legal issues when starting a small business, including legal entities, business licenses and taxes, contracts and leases, marketing and advertising practices, consumer credit and debt collection, employment practices, intellectual property protection and bankruptcy.
- “QuickBooks Pro Intro,” Thursday, Sept. 24, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is $75. Our hands-on training addresses how to manage money (sales, invoicing, paying bills& tracking expenses), reconcile accounts, and use reports to understand your business (profitability and sales trends).
