Rodger rezoneThe El Paso County Planning Commission approved a request by Tamarac Business Park LLC, to rezone a 10-acre parcel from the current zones, listed as residential rural and commercial obsolete, to commercial service. The property is located southeast of the intersection of Highway 24 and Falcon Highway, within the Falcon/Peyton Small Area Master Plan. The rezoning resolves a zoning violation that involved an RV vehicle repair garage and stonemasonry equipment yard.Black Forest Culverts Replacement ProjectThe EPC Board of County Commissioners awarded the contract for the Black Forest culvert replacement project to Pate Construction Co. Inc., from Pueblo, Colorado. The total contract amount is $1,112,185.94: $920,778.74 came from federal funding and the remaining $191,407.20 from the Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority maintenance funds.Black Forest Road has been closed between Swan Road and Shoup Road since Oct. 22, 2015, when two storm culverts under the road were heavily damaged in a summer flash flood. The new construction work will not further impact traffic in the area, beyond the existing road closure.Work on the project was set to begin March 23, but poor weather conditions delayed the start date.Golden West Wind Energy CenterThe commissioners approved the first partial release of road damage collateral money from the Golden West Wind Energy Center in the amount of $4,795,150.Bent Grass Residential Filing No. 1The BOCC approved a request to amend the subdivision improvement agreement for the Bent Grass Residential Filing No. 1 final plat. The issuance of the building permit to lot 1 has been halted and exchanged for issuance of the building permit to lot 104. The previous language in the recorded subdivision improvement agreement restricted the issuance of building permits to lots 1-25.The Shops at Meridian RanchRaul Guzman, Meridian Ranch project manager for GTL Inc., the developer of the subdivision and commercial area, said four businesses have signed leases for space in The Shops at Meridian Ranch: Meridian Ranch Liquor, Nanaís Kitchen, Meridian Service Metropolitan District and Papa Johnís Pizza. He said two more businesses have shown strong interest in signing leases in the next few weeks. June is the current move-in date for the businesses that have signed leases.
