Boy Scout Troop #444 thanks rummage sale patrons

oy Scout Troop #444, recently chartered and sponsored by the Pikes Peak Range Riders, held its first fundraiser June 14 for the troop and to allow the scouts to raise personal scout account funds. The scouts cleaned out their rooms, parent’s garage, and also called on neighbors and friends for donations to sell at the Boy Scout Rummage Sale. The sale raised over $450. Of that, about $256 went to the individual scouts who participated. The troop would like to extend a thank you to Jody and Christine Heffner for their continued support of scouting in the Peyton/Falcon area. A special thank you is also sent out to Gerri Dertien of the Peyton Gift Emporium in Peyton. Dertien shared the property around her shop for the sale and donated a portion of her sales from her line of gifts that day to the troop. The biggest thank you of all goes out to the members of the Peyton and Falcon communities who donated items or purchased items at the sale.Troop funds are used to purchase rank and merit badges, supplies, training and equipment.Individual scouts can use their funds to purchase personal gear like camping clothing, boots and sleeping bags and attend summer camp. The troop plans to attend Camp Chris Dobbins at the Peaceful Valley Scout Ranch at the end of the month. Troop #444 meets each week and welcomes any interested boys in the area between the ages of 11 to 18 to join or interested adult volunteers to help out.For more information contact Scoutmaster, Jim Frohbieter, at 719-499-5431, or Assistant Scoutmaster Alex James at 719-495-4784.
