McGraw Hill and Colorado Construction presented the Banning Lewis Ranch Academy, the first K-8 public charter school on the Banning Lewis Ranch, with the Gold Hard Hat award for best projects 2006 in the outstanding education facility category.”It’s nice to be recognized for a significant project like this,” said Ric Ruedin, vice president of Golden Triangle Construction of Southern Colorado. “This truly took a team effort to design and build this beautiful school in such a short time.”According to a news release, the school was built in less than a year with support from the Falcon School District 49 board members, the development’s homebuilders, bond financing, and the Banning Lewis Ranch Management Company. The school supports about 500 students and has a waiting list of more than 1,000. The school is the only structure in the approximate 21,000-acre development. The school was designed by SlaterPaull Architects of Denver and built by Golden Triangle Construction. The Banning Lewis Ranch Academy is located in Northtree, the inaugural Village in Banning Lewis Ranch, near the intersection of Woodmen and Marksheffel roads. The adjacent planned community recreation center and shared sports fields, parks and facilities are scheduled to open late spring 2007
