El Paso County Colorado District 49

Black Forest replacement map for incorporation purposes approved

The El Paso County Board of Commissioners approved ratification of the corrected Black Forest replacement map. The map indicates road and transportation corridor responsibilities and designates area boundaries for the inclusion of more than 40 acres of property, owned by El Paso County, within the proposed city of Black Forest. Voters have the final say on the incorporation of Black Forest. The commissioners worked on an agreement with the proponents of the incorporation to preserve and protect property rights in the area. The agreement clarifies future maintenance and road improvements consistent with El Paso County development and long-range transportation plans. Although the commissioners approved the replacement map, they are not advocating for or against the incorporation. “It is important for El Paso County to protect transportation corridors, while at the same time leaving the ultimate decision on incorporation up to the residents of Black Forest,” said County Commissioner Wayne Williams.
