Black Forest Pies and Grinders officially opened its doors in March. Owners Dan and MaiLe Dreyfuss are offering pizzas, calzones, strombolis, appetizers, wings and grinders (hot sub sandwiches) for delivery or takeout. This is the second time the Dreyfussís have owned a business in the Black Forest location. Circumstances led them to sell their original restaurant in 2005 and move back East. ìI think it’s been three pizza places and a burrito place since we sold it,î Dan Dreyfuss said. ìWhen we noticed the burrito place went out of business, we looked into leasing the space and found out the place had gone out of business only two days before, and they hadn’t even advertised that the space was available to lease.îThe original restaurant the couple owned was a dine-in, full-service restaurant. Dreyfuss said he hopes to create that concept again one day and expand Black Forest Pies and Grinders. ìI have a lot more experience in the restaurant industry,î Dreyfuss said. ìWe don’t plan on going anywhere, and we’re hoping to expand back into a full-service restaurant and hopefully hand it down to my kids some day.îMenu items at Black Forest Pies and Grinders are made with fresh ingredients and homemade dough and sauces. The restaurant also features online ordering.Black Forest Pies and Grinders is located at 11470 Black Forest Road in Black Forest. The store is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 8 p.m. They are closed Mondays.www.blackforestpiesandgrinders.com
