Black Forest Animal Sanctuary

The Black Forest Animal Sanctuary (www.bfasfarm.org), a division of the all volunteer and non-profit Charlotte and Arthur Romero Wildlife Sanctuary, located in Colorado Springs, are hoping for an old-fashioned barn raising. Volunteers were in the process of rebuilding a barn – the framing had been completed – when a spring storm and high winds took it to the ground. The construction and a final “barn raising” date will be determined as soon as there is enough lumber and supplies onsite. The group also needs metal roofing and plywood to repair many of the 30-plus-year-old shelters. They are looking for support from donations, building materials and equipment, labor, food and other items needed on the barn-raising day. They are also looking for skilled construction workers, builders and volunteers. Without the barn, the winter-feed supply, equipment and overflow of horses and animals will be out in the cold and the elements. The nonprofit is an all-animal rescue organization.Donations may be sent to the Black Forest Animal Sanctuary at 16750 Thompson Road, Colorado Springs, CO. 80908. For more information, call Tracy Hudock at 719-494-0158 or visit www.bfasfarm.org. All donations are tax deductible.Materials needed: Monetary donations to help purchase building supplies and/or feed; lumber and cement mix, metal siding, metal roofing, plywood, MDF, 2×12, 2×10, 2×8, 2×4, nails, screws, etc.
