The new owner of Colorado Springs State Bank, formerly known as Colorado National Bank, is closing the Falcon branch. The last day of business at the Falcon location is July 8.Marge Davis, vice president of Colorado Springs State Bank, said customers’ accounts will automatically transfer to the bank’s main location at 3100 N. Nevada St. Should customers choose to remove their funds from Colorado Springs State Bank, they can close their accounts and certificates of deposit without penalty, Davis said.Colorado National Bank made headlines in March, when the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. announced it was the first Colorado bank to fail during the current banking crisis. The last time a Colorado bank failed was in 1998, with the collapse of BestBank in Boulder, Colo.According to a FDIC March 20 press release, Herring Bank of Amarillo, Texas, entered into a purchase and assumption agreement to assume all the deposits of Colorado National.Representatives from Herring Bank did not return calls requesting comment as to why the Falcon location is closing.Colorado Springs State Bank has continued to operate with two staff members and shortened business hours. Two years ago, when Colorado National first opened, a branch manager, three tellers and two personal bankers operated the Falcon bank.
