On Oct. 7, Falcon emergency personnel used a Breath of Air Recovery Kit (B.A.R.K.) to provide oxygen to a pet cat that suffered smoke inhalation during a residential fire. The B.A.R.K. contains different sizes of oxygen masks specifically designed to fit animal faces, resulting in more efficient oxygen delivery to the animal. Following the on-scene oxygen treatment, the cat was taken to a veterinarian for emergency care and was returned to its owners the following day.The B.A.R.K. was donated to the Falcon Fire Protection District by the Animal Angels Resource Foundation and the Aerospace Womenís Committee. This incident marks the first time the kit has been used since it was received on May 29.
