A great turnout and lots of fun equaled success for Meridian Ranch International Schoolís Start the Art night. Principal Kim Leon said the purpose of the event was to introduce the kids to different mediums of art, foster cultural awareness and showcase their hard work. Music and refreshments, as well as an ìI spyî scavenger hunt to find images in the art rounded out the evening. The art from the young students included flower weavings made from yarn, clay wind chimes and glue-resist paintings. To showcase the cultural elements, each grade was assigned a different country or region: First graders had Australia and fifth graders covered Europe. Art classes were also held during the show; visitors to teacher Jordan Austinís classroom could learn to paint Chinese calligraphy or create painted rock for the garden.
