In a preliminary vote Oct. 26, the Colorado Springs City Council favored the purchase of a 75-acre parcel, which adjoins land the city purchased two years ago, for the creation of open space at Corral Bluffs.The council will take a final vote in November.The city’s Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and the Trails, Open Space and Parks working committee recommended approval of the purchase.The $185,652 purchase will be funded by one tenth of the 1 percent city sales tax, which is dedicated for the acquisition and maintenance of open space.The parcel will provide access to the open space from the rim of the bluffs, and cut the drive time from Falcon in half, said Jeff Cahill, Corral Bluffs Alliance vice president.
