All aboard the wagon train

Bring your horse and/or wagon or just come to watch, as the El Paso County Wagon Train crosses the eastern Colorado plains, much like the settlers did years ago. This is a two-day annual event, which takes place July 19 and July 20, in coordination with the El Paso County Fair. The first day is a shorter ride that departs from Don Baileyís ranch, which is 1 mile north of Simla, at10 a.m. and returns around 2 to 3 p.m. The Sunday ride departs from the Ramah Dam at 10 a.m.and arrives at the El Paso County Fairgrounds in Calhan about 3 p.m. Register for both days and all activities or just a one-day ride. On Saturday, enjoy donuts and coffee for breakfast and a delicious meal at 5 p.m. at the Bailey Ranch. Musical entertainment is also included that evening. Bring your own lunch on Saturday. Sunday begins with a 7 a.m. breakfastprovided by Good Luck Samís and a cowboy church service at 7:30 a.m. at the Baileyís ranch. The wagons and riders will go to the Ramah Dam for the ride; lunch provided along the way, and the wagons will arrive at the El Paso County Fair later that afternoon.
