Reaching out to make a significant contribution in the area of child abuse prevention is one of the Exchange Club of Falcon’s primary missions. In April, Child Abuse Prevention month, Ursula Miller, chairwoman of the Exchange Club’s Child Abuse Prevention Committee presented the El Paso County Sheriff’s Victims Assistance Program with 20 hand-crocheted blankets and 46 new sweat suits donated by club and community members.Susan McAfee-Acre, the county’s Victims Assistance Program coordinator, and husband Kevin Acre accepted these items for the large number of abuse victims who pass through the program. McAfee-Acre also presented a Certificate of Appreciation signed by Chief Joe Breister and McAfee-Acre to Ursula Miller and the Child Abuse Prevention Committee for dedicating time and effort responding to the needs of the Victims Assistance Program. The club also has donated 15 hand-stitched assorted quilts and fleece blankets to Chief Trent Harwig of the Falcon Fire Department to use for children who are displaced by tragic fire circumstances.
