The St. Baldrick’s Foundation sponsors fundraisers for childhood cancer research through sort of ìdare-youî activity ñ participants shave their heads to raise awareness about the effects of cancer and to raise money from family and friends, who often watch the head-shaving event. A local St. Baldrickís fundraiser has been scheduled for March 1. Kariann Ouellette, a Peyton High School senior, is organizing the event, which will tentatively take place at the Falcon fire station on Meridian Road and Highway 24. Ouellette said she has one person lined up to shave the heads, and she is looking for more volunteers and a barber coordinator ñ anyone shaving heads must be licensed in Colorado. Ouellette is also looking for volunteers to help out with the event. The fundraiser is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information or to volunteer, email Ouellette at Kariannstbaldricks@yahoo.com. Registration is open online at https://stbaldricks.org/register/shavee: Type in the Falcon ZIP code to find local information.
