Autumn teaches us a valuable lesson. During summer, all the green trees are beautiful. But there is no time of the year when the trees are more beautiful than when they are different colors. Diversity adds beauty to our world.

Rolling Thunder Way & Meridian Road intersection closed starting on or after April 29
  News release from the county

Starting on or after Wednesday, April 29, the intersection of Rolling Thunder Way and Meridian Road will be closed for intersection reconstruction. El Paso County Department of Public Works’ contractor, Kiewit Infrastructure Company, will reconstruct the intersection sooner than originally planned to expedite work while traffic volumes are low. Business access will remain open during construction.

The current signed detour for roundabout construction at the McLaughlin Road, Old Meridian Road and Rolling Thunder intersection will remain in place. Additional road closures and detour routes will also be in effect starting on or after April 29 for approximately four weeks:
  • Rolling Thunder Way will be closed east of Foxtail Meadows Drive – use Golden Sage Drive to access Woodmen Road and bypass the intersection.
  • Meridian Road will be closed north of Rolling Thunder Way / Old Meridian Road –- use Meridian Road and McLaughlin Road to access Woodmen Road and bypass the construction zone.

Full road closures increase safety and efficiency and reduce the overall duration of construction. Drivers who need to use detour routes should plan for added travel time. Please reduce speeds and watch for workers, equipment, signs and barricades.
