  To highlight its retailers, Peyton hosted a Country Market festival on June 12.

Mary Cole, a Calhan resident, will soon be having her grand opening of Mary’s Pastries in Peyton. She will serve breads, pastries and desserts and will also offer gluten free options.

Nathan McAllister of Falcon and his niece, 11-year-old Camryn Renaud, served free cotton candy during the event.

  Commemorating the Black Forest Fire of 2013

   Black Forest fire commemoration: Members from the Black Forest Fire and Rescue were on hand at the commemoration to talk about mitigation and ways to make their jobs easier and properties safer.   
Black Forest Boy Scout Troop 70 lowered the flag to start the commemoration program.
Eric Olson, a Uilleann bagpiper, and Cara Jean Reimann, fiddler, provided music for the crowd at the Black Forest 2013 Fire commemoration.
