A grant received by the Pikes Peak School of Expeditionary Learning will enable the school to expand and enhance its literacy program.The Daniels Fund awarded the $3,000 grant, which will support the PPSEL Literature Circles Program.”The Daniels Fund grant will enable our school to support our culture of literacy by providing materials to expand our Literature Circles Program,” said Principal Don Knapp. “We very much appreciate the awarded grant and are excited about the growth of the Literature Circles program that will result from it.”The District 49 School serves about 200 students in pre-school through eighth grade.Suzan Pruitt, PPSEL office assistant, said the Daniels Fund grant is the first PPSEL has received this year. The school applies for various grants throughout the year to help supplement their funding resources.Bill Daniels, a pioneer in cable television established the grant in 1997, she said.”A little bit goes a long way.”
