Yoder’s Brewer announces bid for House District 19

Jim Brewer of Yoder will run for the seat vacated by term-limited Rep. Richard Decker. Brewer, a 20-year veteran of the Air Force who retired in 1986, announced his plan to about 60 people at Solo’s Restaurant.Elected officials in attendance included Sen. Ed Jones, Decker, Rep. Keith King, Rep. Larry Liston, El Paso County Sheriff Terry Maketa and former Sheriff John Anderson and county commissioners Sally Clark and Dennis Hisey.Brewer also is a retired systems engineer from the MITRE Corp., a horse breeder, president of El Paso County Farm Bureau, past vice president of the Miami-Yoder School Board and a member of several other boards and commissions, according to a news release. He and his wife, Marsha, have resided in the house they built near Yoder since 1985.Brewer mentioned transportation, renewable energy, property rights, education, the state budget, health care and illegal immigration as the primary issues facing House District 19. “I’m a hard-working, conservative Republican with the necessary support to become the next representative for House District 19,” Brewer said. “I’m dedicated to the cause, and I am fully qualified to represent the people of Colorado.”
