Two Falcon High School students, who happen to be sisters, were named to the “Mayor’s Top-100 Teens” list for 2005-2006.Marina Thomas and Svetlana “Svea” Thomas met the criteria for selection, which includes good grades, significant achievements and accomplishments, overcoming an obstacle or acting as a positive role model. The Thomas sisters, born in Russia, learned English as a second language. Their mother died of cancer, and Peter and Dee Thomas, who now call Falcon home, adopted the girls.Cheryl Stueve, their school counselor, nominated them and describes Marina as “amazing, infectious, and enthusiastic” and Svea, the older one, as a “phenomenal” person who enjoys life. The sisters will appear at community functions throughout the year.
