Tom Cline proposed that the Falcon Professional Development League find out if there is a disaster plan for Falcon. It was mentioned that the county would be responsible for disaster plans. Cline suggested looking into what the county covers in the event of an emergency or heavy snowfall, researching the gaps. He also suggested coordinating a list of volunteers to clear driveways covered in snow for folks who can’t do it themselves. Someone said it would be helpful to distribute flyers informing people on how to handle a blizzard, fire or other natural disaster. Pat Jeffrey, pastor at Grace Community Church, said they would be willing to help with the printing, and Steven Hull said that D 49 could help distribute them. The FPDL members agreed to give $2,000 for fuel expenses to the pilots at Meadow Lake Airport. They have transported evacuees from the Gulf areas to the Springs area.Another $100 donation was approved for flowers in memory of Art Van Sant, who died from a stroke a few weeks ago.Trent Hartwig, the Falcon fire chief, spoke at the meeting He said, despite the district’s need, they would not ask for a tax increase this year, as it would cost $12,500 to get the issue on the ballot. He reported that call volume has increased by 300 to 400 calls per year. The next meeting of the FPDL is Wed., Oct. 5 at 7:30 a.m. at the Falcon Fire Protection District firehouse.
