Elections were held at the April 6 meeting of the Falcon Professional Development League. The following new officers were uncontested and elected by the FPDL members: Sam Leffler – chairman of the FPDL board; Tom Cline – president; Linda Engleman – vice-president; Stacy Rummel – secretary; and Jean Woolsey – treasurer.The guest speaker at the meeting was Tim Wolkins, the director of the El Paso County Parks and Recreation Department. Wolkins discussed the 2005 El Paso County Fair and encouraged FPDL members to consider advertising and/or participating at the fair with a booth for the fair’s 100th anniversary. Wolkins also told members that the 40-acre fair site in Calhan can be rented for events.The fair this year will be held July 23 to July 30. Wolkin also said city parks and recreation is researching the Falcon area for park and recreation space. They are currently working on a master draft and seeking citizens to serve on a committee.New president Tom Cline suggested to members that they might want to get behind the Falcon fire department to support budget increases.June 25 is the FPDL business fair, which will take place this year at Big R. Space rental is $60. (See “Community Calendar” for details.)The next meeting will be Wed., May 4 at the Falcon Fire Protection District firehouse.
