Meridian Ranch has opened its family recreation center. Homeowners Robert and Becky Pape and their family were the first to purchase a home in the development. They had the honor of cutting the ribbon for the grand opening of the center.The first phase of the family recreation center is 17,500 square feet with an additional 852 square feet for the pool house. The facility includes two meeting rooms, two multi-purpose rooms and an open fitness area, which offers homeowners access to treadmills, ellipticals, recumbent and upright bikes, a climber, step-mill, free weights, benches, leg curl and extension machines. In addition, community teenagers will have air hockey, video machines, ping-pong and a great place to hang out and spend time with their friends. In May, the center will open the outdoor pool that includes lap lanes and a graduated slope children’s area. There will also be a snack bar open during pool hours.The Meridian Service Metropolitan District owns the family recreation center, and the YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region will operate the facility, including the pool, child watch area and cardio exercise equipment. Additional YMCA programs supported by participant registration fees will be available to the community, such as youth sports, day camps, swimming lessons and aerobics classes.Future phases of the family recreation center in Meridian Ranch will include an indoor pool and gymnasium.Meridian Ranch is a planned community that offers its residents great trails and parks, the world-class Antler Creek Golf Course and the Antler Creek Clubhouse. The clubhouse restaurant, which features a full bar, is open for lunch and dinner daily and breakfast on Saturday and Sunday.
