Boys and Girls Club offered to D 49

An after-school program sponsored by Boys and Girls Clubs of America at Falcon Elementary School is now open to students at Meridian Ranch Elementary School and Woodmen Hills Elementary School.The program is staffed by the Boys and Girls Club and Falcon Elementary teachers and offers a variety of activities each school day from 3:40 p.m. to 6 p.m. Students can get extra help with their homework during “Power Hour” or participate in art, computer or physical education activities. The program also offers character and leadership development and training in health and life skills.The cost for the program is $4 per day or $18 per week for one child. Families with two children enrolled in the program pay $30 per week, and those with three to six children in the program pay $40 per week. There is also a $5 annual registration fee per child, which grants access to all other Boys and Girls Clubs facilities.If enough students from both elementary schools enroll in the program, the district will allow the students to piggyback on an existing bus route from those schools to Falcon Elementary, where the Boys and Girls Club meets.Organizers of the program will make presentations at the April PTA meetings of each of the elementary schools.
