Thank you for your article on incorporating Falcon in the October issue of the New Falcon Herald. The article provided much detailed information and good analysis. If we incorporated Falcon, could we not take away Calhan’s claim to be the highest non-mountain town in the USA?With much less expense than for incorporation, adding a new zip code for Falcon would be a great boost. It would be a step towards creating an identity for Falcon that is distinct from that of Peyton. Many insurance rates, delivery charges, marketing plans and more are based on zip code. Falcon is a much more populated town than Peyton and much closer to Colorado Springs. Combining Falcon with Peyton in the same zip code is too imprecise. I cringe when I give my address to a company and they ask for my zip code but not my city name. I know that my address is about to be described as a Peyton address.In order to have its own zip code, Falcon would not need to have its own post office. If Falcon incorporated, it would be likely to get its own zip code. But incorporation need not be a pre-requisite for getting Falcon its own zip code. Adding a new zip code for Falcon would be a great boost to Falcon’s identity and economic development. The cost for adding a zip code should be minimal, particularly in comparison with the costs for incorporation.
