The Eastern Plains Chamber of Commerce welcomed members and guests to its February breakfast meeting, featuring presentations from our breakfast sponsor, Dupré Academy of Music, and our featured presenter, Property Craft.
Dupré Academy of Music expands vision for the arts
Dupré Academy of Music shared its vision of creating a dedicated arts space in the Falcon community. In addition to offering private lessons in piano, voice, guitar, drums, ukulele, strings, band instruments and musical theater, the academy hopes to expand its facility to include a recording studio, performance venue and gallery space for local artists.
Students currently perform twice a year at Graner Music Recital Hall, with recitals now large enough to require two separate sessions because of continued enrollment growth. Local businesses have the opportunity to sponsor recital programs, helping offset venue costs and provide small gifts for student performers.
The academy also offers specialized instruction for students preparing for all state auditions, music theory study, songwriting and competitive performance. Musical theater students benefit from experienced instructors, including one who has performed alongside Shirley Jones of “The Partridge Family.”
As the only full-service music school in the immediate Falcon area, Dupré Academy offers multiple disciplines under one roof, along with a welcoming space for parents and students.
Property Craft educates on mold, water damage and asbestos
Property Craft provided an educational presentation focused on mold remediation, water damage response and asbestos regulations.
Owner Scott Sparks explained that mold, or microbial growth, typically develops from untreated moisture sources such as roof leaks, plumbing issues or improperly dried water damage. Although Colorado’s dry climate might suggest mold is uncommon, growth can begin within just a few days when moisture and organic material are present.
Attendees learned that professional remediation often includes moisture detection tools such as infrared cameras, air quality testing, containment barriers to prevent cross-contamination and removal of affected materials. Sparks also addressed common misconceptions, noting that household solutions such as bleach could discolor mold without eliminating the underlying problem.
Property Craft is licensed in asbestos abatement and works with certified professionals for proper testing and safe removal when necessary. Business owners were encouraged to act quickly when moisture issues arise, as early intervention significantly reduces cost and disruption.
Through informative presentations and continued collaboration, the Eastern Plains Chamber remains committed to supporting business growth and strengthening connections throughout the 80831 community.
