LauraLee Gigliotti has been a hair stylist for 20 years. She owns Shear Underground, a business that makes wigs and hairpieces, as well as providing a full range of hair styling and hair care for clients in the Falcon area.
Gigliotti grew up in New Jersey and eventually settled in Falcon 12 years ago. She has worked at the Broadmoor Salon, Origins at the Shops at Briargate, Veda and has been at the downtown Beauty Bar for the past eight years.
When the COVID pandemic hit, Gigliotti saw it as an opportunity. “I decided to turn my basement into a workshop for wig and hairpiece making, and it ended up becoming a raw version of a she shack that became the Shear Underground. I am in the process of patenting a tool for the industry I work in. I experiment a lot with color projects and take referral-only clients there,” she said. So a potential client has to be referred to her by someone Gigliotti knows.
Gigliotti’s specialty is custom color such as blonding, grey blending, lived-in color, as well as hair extensions. She provides treatments to assist with issues of the scalp such as dryness, hair loss and damage. “My skillset is consistent, and I have a vast knowledge of color and haircare,” Gigliotti said. “I have ventured into the world of hair extensions and love to create custom color inspired by hues I find in nature.” She said she enjoys making hair plans with her clients that fit within their expectations and budget.
While not working, Gigliotti enjoys kayaking, being in nature with her three toy fox terriers, cooking and painting.
